Clinical approach

Prof. Dr. Hasan Ahmet Özdoğan is an Istanbul-based professor surgeon with 30+ years of academic and clinical experience in otolaryngology (ENT) and head & neck surgery. His clinical principle is simple and constant: every treatment plan must balance three components — disease control, functional preservation, and the patient's quality of life.

The function-first approach is the clinic's signature. Nasal valve patency in septorhinoplasty, recurrent laryngeal nerve preservation in thyroidectomy, voice rehabilitation in laryngectomy — function preservation is targeted in every surgical plan, without exception. Aesthetic outcome is achieved without compromising function.

Academic foundation

Many years in teaching hospitals shaped a clinical-decision style that is evidence-based and multidisciplinary. This academic background is reflected in deepened expertise across rhinology, head & neck oncology, thyroid surgery, laryngology, and otology subspecialties.

Through the Yenileyici Tıp Akademisi (Regenerative Medicine Academy), academic depth is transferred from clinician to clinician. Clinical case discussions, advanced rhinology courses, and multidisciplinary head & neck oncology meetings are pillars of the academy. Visit the academy page for publications, presentations, and educational activities.

Areas of expertise

Clinical practice spans five main subspecialty axes:

Functional Rhinoplasty

An approach that addresses aesthetics and breathing function in the same session. Septorhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, ethnic rhinoplasty, post-traumatic nasal reconstruction — all with function-first technique.

Head & Neck Surgery & Oncology

Surgical treatment of cancers of the larynx, hypopharynx, oral cavity, salivary glands, and thyroid. Oncologic principles combined with organ-sparing approaches; multidisciplinary, coordinated treatment planning.

Thyroid Surgery

Comprehensive surgical management for thyroid nodules, goitre, Graves' disease, and thyroid cancer. Recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring, parathyroid preservation protocol, sentinel lymph node technique.

Laryngology & Voice Surgery

Vocal cord pathologies (nodule, polyp, cyst, paralysis), chronic laryngitis management, vocal rehabilitation for professional voice users. Microlaryngoscopic phonomicrosurgery.

Otology

Chronic middle ear infections, cholesteatoma, otosclerosis, tympanic membrane reconstruction (tympanoplasty). Hearing-preservation-focused surgical planning.

International patient experience

1,000+ international patient encounters from 5 countries have shaped the clinic's protocols. Patient flow from Germany, the United Kingdom, Gulf countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait), the Netherlands, and Balkan nations has led to the development of a multicultural clinical care model.

For international patients the process is documented in writing: pre-op video consultation, visa invitation letter, airport transfer, complete pre-hospital test coordination, multilingual support (English, German, Arabic, Russian), and 12-month post-operative remote tele-follow-up. Every stage is documented; no surprises.

Medical philosophy

What is your most important clinical principle?

"Treat the disease, but never forget to treat the patient." Surgical success is not just removing a tumour or achieving an aesthetic outcome — it is the patient being able to breathe, speak, swallow, and return to life confidently after the operation. This principle guides every pre-operative plan and every clinical decision.
